Bay-B-Q...

I had to share this... My buddy Ricky and his girl, Bibi, are getting ready to squeeze a bun outta the oven. So... they are throwing down a little get-together at their place and needed a good way to spread the word to the masses.

Well... it only made sense to have our other friend and bad ass artist, Racecar13, whip out something catchy for the eyes....

Congrats Rick!... pretty soon you'll have someone to fetch your tools and loosen the bolts-n-nuts in those hard to reach places!

The Black Pictures...

It's a Southern, CA invasion of the creative kind in Portland, OR this week. Besides myself andTanner Goldbeck, another one of my great artist/photographer friends, Gail Pine, is also having an art opening in town. Her exhibit, The Black Pictures, is going to be on display atAmpersand Bookstore & Gallery in the Alberta District.

The opening reception this Wednesday, see invite below. So, if you aren't already in Portland, pack up your bags, gas up the car and get on the road... this is just another great reason to be there...

Not For Re:production...

I'll be heading to Portland in a couple days to prep for my upcoming solo exhibit (See previous post...), and it looks like I'll be ride sharing with my fellow artist friend, Tanner Goldbeck. Turns out that he and our other pal, J.Shea, will be taking part in a four-man show, only two days before mine.

There show will be at the Goodfoot Gallery and the other artists include: Gabe Decker, Eyeone & Codak. Sure to impress, don't miss this one if you are in the Portland area.

The Past is Present...

Here is your invitation to view a solo exhibit of my ongoing photography project. It is a culmination of "Car Culture" images made between 2004 and now, while attending classic car shows and vintage hot rod races in Central and Southern, CA.

The work will be on display at Lyrik (owned by J.Shea and his better half... Keiko), in Portland, OR. So, if you are in the neighborhood... stop on by and be sure to have one of Keiko's famous iced mochas...

Good-bye IGLOO...

It's been just about one year since I had my first showing of photography outside of California. I was in a two-man show with my good friend, J.Shea9, at the IGLOO Gallery in Portland, OR. Well, yesterday I received the sad news that the gallery will be closing it's doors at the end of this month after 2.95 years (as they put it) of operation.

Just another sign of the times I guess. Art is a luxury and is one of the first things to be put on the back burner when it comes to spending money in a down economy.

Thanks to Bryon Schroeder, Damien Gilley and Christine Taylor for providing a space for artists to display their work and for the good people of Portland to come and gawk at it. Even if it was for only 2.95 years!

Boyle Heights...

I took a day long road trip with my friend, Gail Pine, who lead to me the East LA neighborhood of, Boyle Heights. I took my Mamiya 645M along and spent some color and BW rolls of film on it. I fear the end of some of my favorite films and want to get my fix before I no longer can.

If you are into murals, hand painted signage, fonts, lettering, etc. etc., Boyle Heights will surely inspire and over-stimulate. To learn some history about the area, go here. With that out of the way, enjoy a few of the pics I took while I was there...
