Art Resources Framing & Gallery...

I've been spending some time with my buddy, Matt, who owns Art Resources frame shop and gallery here in SB. He's been helping me prep some of the boards I will be mounting images to and showing in an upcoming exhibit with J. Shea9 at IGLOO gallery in Portland, OR.

While I was there today, he showed my his new website that his wife, Brittany, made for the shop and I thought I would share it with you. Garage Magazine No. 18...

Just about ten months after a shoot I did for Garage Magazine, the issue with the story finally came out. It was the third "Test Drive" shoot I did with them and this time it was a 1955 Chevy gasser owned by Cisco Lastra.
We took the car throughout SF, visiting all the usual tourist stops in town for the story. The Golden Gate, Lombard Street, Union Square, Chinatwon and, one un-tourist stop, the Tenderloin (where the car got nothing but thumbs up)...

Oh, and I had a cameo in the "Family" section at the back of the magazine. It's a shot of me with car builder, Cole Foster at the "Full Custom Living" Garage Mag. art show in SF.

That's us in the pic below the show flier standing in front of the portrait I made of him. That piece actually sold at the show that night...

Here is the portrait as it hung on the wall, it was a candid shot of him standing in front of the 36 Ford he built for Kirk Hammett of the band, Metallica.

Aaahhh... The Noblex...

I'm missing shooting film these days. I don't feel so guilty about printing digitally, I'm a photogrpaher... I like light! Why would I want to spend a whole day in the dark... right? Ok, I miss the darkroom a bit too. Anyway, I was rooting around on one of my hard drives looking for anything that might sell as stock and came across some images I made using a Noblex 120mm Panoramic Camera.

Not really stuff that I think could sell for stock but damn, what a sweet camera that makes even sweeter imgaes. I never owned one but I borrowed my buddy, Jeff's all the time. Below are a few that I took for fun while I was hanging out in Downtown LA one day visiting none other than, Racecar13. Shot a few near his place and some in Chinatown. Stay tuned for more images from film, I'm miss it so much, I'm heading out on a day trip tomorrow to Oxnard, CA (of all places) to blast a couple rolls through my Mamiya 645M...

Lunchtime Portrait Session...

If you know me or have read this blog in the past, you probably are aware that I do scanning, printing and Photoshop tutoring for motor-sports photographer, Jesse Alexander. One of our rituals when we work together at his studio is... take a break, and have breakfast with coffee, for lunch, at Esau's Cafe in Carpinteria, CA. We did so the other day and I happened to be armed with my Mamiya 645M loaded with some Ilford XP2.

So... while we waited for lunch, I turned the camera on him for a quick portrait session...

The Agave Inn...

What's new with The Presidio Motel? They have taken over their second Ma and Pa motel and transformed it into, yet another, clean... modern... hip place to stay in SB. Though in its final stages of reconstruction, the Traveler's Motel has become... the Agave Inn.

I went over yesterday afternoon to witness the reincarnation myself and take a few photos for the new website. The rooms are freshly painted, each with their own signature color... flat screens... new heating/air-conditioning units... hand made furniture from Mexico... vintage Mexican movie posters for decor... the list goes on.

If you, or anyone you know, are looking for a great place to stay in SB... either of Chris and Kenny's places are sure to please.
